Dr. Ellie Sattler played by Laura Dern (Mask, October Sky) is a Paleo-botanist (study of fossilized plants) and girlfriend to Dr. Alan Grant. As they both accept the invitation to Hammond's preserve, she is one of the first to realize that there were dangerous plants around the park itself-"you pick them because they look nice" It was certainly preface to what was ahead. During the park tour, they stumble upon a sick Triceratops. Dr. Sattler decides to split up with the rest of the group in order to stay back with Dr. Harding and care for the Trike. Her separation from the rest was ideal because she became the "go-to" woman and single handedly went to the power shed and turned on the park's fences manually while escaping from a hungry Velociraptor.

I bought Sahara today while at Pathmark shopping for some food that was needed in my new apartment on-campus. Over all, I wasn’t impressed with the movie. It had its funny moments, but for the most part it was un-believable. Somewhat boring leading me to make comments about the movie that weren’t very nice or appropriate. Oh well. The movie is worth a good laugh, but that’s it. It’s not worth your money. I will say that there was moments that one of the characters in the movie acted like Firefly character Wash. (thanks to Quynh.)

Just what the title says.

After spending countless hours on the phone with Rutgers Housing, Parking and Transportation, and some other offices they came to the conclusion that I’m screwed. Housing and Parking do not agree with each other one the rules and regulations regarding the wording campus affiliation.

I spoke with a number of housing representatives at the Busch and Livingston campus, and they all state the same page and paragraph seen in my previous entry. They believe I should have no problem getting a parking pass because I’m affiliated with Livingston College, not Rutgers College, not Rutgers College of Engineering because they have their own rules and regulations.

Parking & Transportation state that by affiliation means to which campus you are living on, not the campus you are accepted into. So Parking & Transportation believe once you live on another campus regardless of affiliation, the new campus becomes your affiliation. You are to be treated as a Rutgers College/College of Engineering student. This denomination requires me to have 54 credits or more, which I lack.

Seriously. If you want to make something clear in your god-damn handbook, make it clear. I’m affiliated with Livingston, thus I’m a Livingston Student. Nothing else regardless of what campus I live on. But if I’m affiliated with Busch by living on it, make it clear! I agree with Housing on this one. Score one for them.

One more note, housing will not charge/fine me for a “room transfer” back to Livingston, but they say there is no space left in the dorm. That is a load of horse shit. There is always room on Livingston. The place is dead regardless of what you do with it :p

Getting away from school, I fixed my phone. Popped it open and fixed the rubber dialing mat holding the number pad. I was able to push the pins out again and it works beautify. Doesn’t call Quynh when I open the face plate any more! I’m sure that got annoying because she was my more recent attempt to call before falling asleep on the open phone.

Back to the school, I’m have to find a garage for my car until the middle or end of December. I feel ridiculously stupid for this problem because I was misinformed by a housing representative. Not her fault. She read the rules one way and saw it the same way I do—the same way the other people I talk to not including parktran. Bah, one more RU Screw to add to the list.

. . . .

Update on Financial Aid. The reason I’m denied half of what I got the last two years is because I did not send in the FAPSA in at the correct time. Rutgers received my FAPSA information on May 16, 2005. In order to qualify for all the aid I received the last two years I needed to send the FAPSA in before March 01, 2005. What kind of crap is that? That’s 3 months to put together an estimate of what you think you have in order to get student aid from Rutgers. So ladies and ‘gents, that’s why they are refusing to give me aid on my term bill. I did receive aid, but Rutgers is only letting me take out a Student Aid Loan for this year.

I plan on taking care of this in person by blowing up the school. Yeah right.

Alright, I just found out a week ago that I’ll officially be in the Nicolas Apartments on the Busch campus of Rutgers.

Now, I’m a Livingston College student which has different regulations for graduation, availability of parking, and other things I don’t care to think about. Since I am a Livingston College student I had my car on campus. One of the only perks I enjoyed about being on that campus.

However, on the Busch campus (Rutgers College) students are only allowed to have a car on campus with 54 credits or more. I only have 47 credits because I took two non-credit courses down in Rutgers-Camden.

Back to the Nicolas Apartments, I specifically asked if I was able to have the car on the Busch campus, being a Livingston College student without 54 credits or more, before I signed the contract. The lady replied with a “Yes, Livingston students regardless of credits will be able to have their car on campus” and so I signed the contract believing so.

I went to purchase a parking permit online via Rutger’s Parking & Transportation website (www.parktran.rutgers.edu) and it spats back a message saying I’m ineligible to purchase a parking pass for this semester, but if this is some error to contact the Parktran office during business hours. Upon further investigation I found the Parking & Transporation’s Rules and Regulations Handbook (Page 11, 2005) and it states:

A resident student’s ability to have a car on campus is determined by their college affiliation and the regulations particular to that college. Students who reside out-of –state and pay out-of-state tuition must show proof of out-of-state driver’s license to have a car on campus. Resident student parking assignments are made to specific lots according to a student’s on-campus residence. From 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, a resident student having a car on campus must park in their assigned lot and use the intercampus bus system for travel on the same or any other campus.

If I’m to read this right, my college affiliation is Livingston, their regulations to that college state I’m able to have a car on campus. What more is there to say? Unless it reads, my college affiliation is Livingston, but the relation for the Busch campus based is on Rutgers-College states I need 54 credits or more to have a car on campus.

My dad is pissed off saying “You’re a full-time student and you don’t have enough credits? What the fuck are you going to college for if you don’t have enough credits as full-time?” I told him about the two non-credit courses and he flipped out on me. I take it he doesn’t understand the logic of Rutgers completely.

As memory serves me right, when I tried to buy a permit online last semester I couldn’t because Rutgers registration system was fucked up. It still had me listed as a non-dorm student living on Camden-Rutgers. After showing proof of being a Livingston College student I was able to buy a permit for the semester.

Maybe it will work out. Maybe it won’t. I swear I get fucked over more and more as I stay at Rutgers. I was actually happy about going back until now. They send me down to Camden, denied federal aid, and told me to take a higher level calculus II, now this…. might I add the tuition hike of 10% which feels like 25%. How the hell does it go from being $14,000 dollars to being nearly $20,000 dollars a year?
