Dr. Ellie Sattler played by Laura Dern (Mask, October Sky) is a Paleo-botanist (study of fossilized plants) and girlfriend to Dr. Alan Grant. As they both accept the invitation to Hammond's preserve, she is one of the first to realize that there were dangerous plants around the park itself-"you pick them because they look nice" It was certainly preface to what was ahead. During the park tour, they stumble upon a sick Triceratops. Dr. Sattler decides to split up with the rest of the group in order to stay back with Dr. Harding and care for the Trike. Her separation from the rest was ideal because she became the "go-to" woman and single handedly went to the power shed and turned on the park's fences manually while escaping from a hungry Velociraptor.

Wound up in the hospital for me any my grandmother this morning around 4-am for CHM. Well she went in there for a bloody noise, but I went in there for another reason. I was released 3 hours later, but she was kept until 2-pm. Here we are in the middle of up-state New York.

Finally get back to Jersey around 7:30. I head back down to college, get in around 8-ish.

40 minutes later my grandmother is back in the hospital for double pneumonia, and heart problems. She had one of those bloody nose things that she had 2 years ago where she almost lost all her blood. I’m very pissed that the doctors in New York did not catch that. They took x-rays and everything while we were up there. All they said was it seemed like some fluid in the lungs, but she’s alright as long as she takes “so and so.” Stupid fucking hicks.

My dad slipped and probably cracked his skull open, so he’s in another hospital being treated as well.

I have no clue how those two are doing. I’m worried shitless about both of them. I could care-less about my exam, my budget project, which are due tomorrow.

What luck? My chest is starting to hurt again. Time to take some Avern or whatever it’s called.

After finding out my grandmother is dying of heart related problems she and my mother wanted me to get checked. They wanted to have me get a checkup while I was home since I’ve been complaining about chest pains lately (for the last 2 months) that have been getting increasingly worse over time. I got the results back today, and lets say they are not good. Turns out I have a beginning form of heart disease. There is not much more that I can say on it, but that’s what’s causing my chest pains–the over working of the heart during certain times of the day, like when I run at night. The doctor advises me to stop doing physical activities that place a great demand on my heart, so that I may live just a bit longer. What a hoot.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, and drop me a line sometime.

Today I went home for a little while and found out my grandmothers condition is more severe than I thought. Turns out her condition is slowly killing her. She doesn’t have long to live if the medication(s) she’s on does not show the doctors the results he wants. That’s really sad. Could you imagine taking 6 different kinds of pills to keep yourself going every single day?

Apparently… life is short.
